Freediving Line Diving on Oahu, Hawaii

- Reserved for Training Agency Certified Freedivers -

Keep the momentum going with line diving after taking a freediving class! To support Oahu’s depth focused freediving community we offer weekly blue water line diving sessions for those that would like to train with consistency.

Training consistently allows for safe depth progression as the body slowly adapts over time. Just like an alpinist acclimating to atmospheric pressure changes at Mount Everest’s Base Camp prior to summit attempt freedivers need to do the same thing. Repeating depth performances over and over again overtime before going deeper has proven to be the optimal approach to reduce the risk of injury, meaningful depth improvements, relaxation, confidence and enduring success.

Ocean Freediving International offers line diving sessions every Sunday from 6:45 to 10:30 am, we occasionally offer sessions on Saturday. The boat departs at 7:00 AM sharp from the Kewalo Basin Boat Harbor, Pier C. Booking in advance is required with a non-refundable payment within 72hours of boat departure. Please see our ‘Refund and Cancelation Policy’ for more details.

Freediving rigs and/or floats with descent lines and bottom weights are provided. This allows for small groups of freedivers per float.. A three or four person rotation is optimal. A three or four person rotation maximizes actual time on the line training (at depth), not floating on the surface getting cold while waiting for others in a long rotation line.

  • Where: Kewalo Basin, Honolulu (Pier C, on the boat closest to the sea wall/street)

  • When: Every Sunday (others days as well on occasion)

  • Cost: $35(Advanced booking and certification validation required)

  • Freediving certification required (details are provided below)

Training sessions are open to Hawaii's freediving community that are ‘OCEAN CERTIFIED’ to FREEDIVE from one of the following training agencies at a Level II, Intermediate, Four Star Level certification or greater:

  • Performance Freediving International (PFI)

  • Freediving Instructors International (FII)

  • Association Internationale pour le Développement de l'Apnée (AIDA)

  • SSI (Freediving Certifications Only)

  • Molchanovs (Wave 2, 3, and 4 Certifications)

Freedivers certified by other agencies are approved on a case by case basis. Safety is paramount. Freedivers need to have full trust and confidence in the knowledge, experience, training, and competence of their safety freedivers. Having this confidence allows athletes to relax, let go, and commit to their performances, to dive deep knowing their safety freediver will meet them at the appropriate depth at the appropriate time on the ascent and has the competence to calmly render assistance if needed. A qualified safety freediver is trained on how to provide safety at depth during an athlete's ascent from depth and is trained on blackout recognition and management procedures.
